Gordon R Brown Butchers where did we start?
In 1897 my Great Grandfather Peter Brown, from a farming family in Perth, came to Glasgow to work in an abattoir. He opened a shop in Sidney Street in the Gallowgate area of Glasgow.

Unfortunately he died when my Grandfather (Gordon R Brown) was only 4 years old. My Grandfathers brother, also called Peter, took over the business and after WW2 moved to a new location in Riddrie.
My Grandfather joined the family business from school and continued the family tradition of supplying the outlying areas of Glasgow in the butchers van.
in 1976 my Grandfather bought his own shop in Netherlee G R Brown (butchers). In 1977 my father also Gordon, who worked with his Dad since he was 10, joined the business.
In 1981, the empire was enhanced with the purchase of our Eaglesham shop.
My Grandfather moved up to the Eaglesham shop leaving my Dad to run Netherlee.
My Grandmother, Mother and two aunts also worked in the shops making it a true “Family business”.
I (Stuart) joined the family business in 2004 and took over in 2024 when Gordon retired.
After a large refurbishment in our Eaglesham shop in 2021 and the closure of the Netherlee shop in 2025, the business has been futureproofed.
The philosophy of the Brown family has never changed. Top provide top quality products and service in the local and surrounding areas.
We source all our own beef, lamb, pork and poulty from local suppliers. We use recipes handed down from my Great Grandfather and continue to develop new products with the finest quality ingredients for all our customers.
We have won many awards for our products and hopefully the Brown family will continue serving our customers for many years to come.
Our grass-fed beef is raised on family farms. Stuart has a great relationship with our suppliers to ensure we keep our carbon footprint low sourcing from the best farms in the West of Scotland. The result is a healthier, more sustainable, and more delicious meat that you can feel good about eating. Try our juicy dry aged steaks, flavorful ground beef, and more.
Our Free Range Chicken is raised in spacious barns with plenty of room to roam inside and outside, and fed only certified feed and allowed to feed outside. This results in a tender, juicy, and flavorful meat. Try our whole chickens, boneless breasts, and more.
We support Scottish Pork using Scottish farms. The result is a meat that is more sustainable, more flavorful, more tender, more succulent than any other pork you've ever tasted and supporting our Scottish farmers. Try our chops, roasts, and sausages.
We pride ourselves using my great grandfather's recipes. These recipes are tried and tested and have been recognised with many awards over the years. We also have a few different flavours too!
We make stirfrys daily in the shop. We make a few ranging from Alabama beef, chilli willy beef, black garlic beef, piri piri chicken and chicken fajita.
We make easy to cook katsu curry to simple meatballs in sauce which are family favourites.
All are made in shop using our tried and tested marinades and sauces with full allergie information and cooking times.
We only sell Scottish lambs. We source locally where Stuart buys direct and has a great relationship with the farmers. We use the full carcase with a full selection of chops, joints, diced, soup cuts, pies, burgers and koftas available.
At Gordon R Brown Butchers , we pride ourselves on offering only the finest quality meats. We decided 15 years ago to make our own bacon. We make our own sweetcure back , Ayrshire middle, smoked back, ham hocks and ribs.
We make all our own steak pies, mince rounds, chicken pies, sausage rolls, mutton pies, Bridies, pulled pork parcels and many other tasty treats

We deliver locally all over the south side of Glasgow, East Renfrewshire, Eaglesham, Jackton and East Kilbride. If your outside these areas just speak to us and we will try our best to look after you!
